DEVELOPMENT STUDY FOR THE MBODIENE INTEGRATED TOURIST ZONE

Senegal

Project

The integrated tourism zone project is part of the emerging Senegal Plan (Plan Sénégal Emergeant), whose objective is to outline Senegal's development vision and priorities for the next 20 years. The study of the Mbodiène integrated tourist zone is a component of the Phare "Integrated Tourist Zones" project, which aims to strengthen tourism as an engine of growth and employment.

The completion of the Mbodiène integrated tourism zone represents the second challenge in realizing the vision of a new polarity of excellence in tourism and sustainable development on the Petite Côte. Located just over a hundred kilometers from Dakar, 35 minutes from Blaise Diagne International Airport and at the gateway to the Sine Saloum region, the village of Mbodiène is set on a lagoon bordered by a sandy beach stretching out to the Atlantic. Covering an area of 504 ha, the site boasts a wide variety of landscapes, easy access and an established reputation as a destination for nature tourism and discovery.
